This wonderful small garden is in Bourton-on-the-hill in Gloucestershire, England near Moreton in Marsh. It was recently named Garden of the Year. Its opening hours are a bit inconvenient but it is well worth the effort. Its creator is Monique Paice, who generously showed me around in May, 2007, and has a very deft eye for color and plant combinations.
A tree breaking and falling on your house can be quite traumatic. It usually happens in the worst of weather – after all, the weather is probably what broke the tree. So you have to be concerned with protecting the inside of your house from the elements as well as safely removing the tree from the house. There are choices to make at this point that can turn a bad situation much worse or much better. The first thing to do, of course, is get the tree off of your house!
