Now I just have to build some trellises for the beans and supports for the tomatoes. I ordered seeds from Baker Creek Heirlooms, and they arrived in three days from Missouri. Beans are "dragon tongue", squash "white bush scallop", carrot "amarillo", melon "sleeping beauty",and watermelon "golden midget". All quite experimental in my short-day yard!
Plus plants of lettuce "mascara", tomato "spain", and tomato "lucinda" (I’ve grown both these tomatoes before and they did really well). The red-stemmed stuff is spinach, and there’s some mixed lettuce in there too.

Pyracantha berries growing in our London garden. Last winter a female blackbird made this bush her personal property and chased away other blackbirds, male and female.
